  “The most notable side effect of a mind wipe is horrible, unrelenting nightmares. But that only happens in some cases, maybe you’ll get lucky.”

  Mind wipe?

  Lucy continued, “The brain is a tricky thing. You can make it forget stuff when it’s awake, but when it’s in sleep mode . . . well, not so much.” Lucy placed her hands on either side of Sebastian’s head, her thumbs pressed firmly against his temples.

  “I’ve been told that some people have had success in planting a kind of subconscious idea right before performing a mind wipe so as to help the person being wiped. I thought I’d give that a try . . . maybe give you a needed boost going forward in life.” Lucy moved her face so close to Sebastian’s that their noses almost touched. “Todd, try to stop being such a prick.”

  Sebastian only had a moment to process her final words before everything flashed white.
